Rohan Shrestha

Rohan Shrestha (born 6 March 1985) is an Indian born Nepalese origin photographer who lives and works between Mumbai and New York. The Son of one of Indias pioneer photographers Rakesh Shrestha, his photographs have made the cover of several prominent magazines including Noblesse India, L'Officiel, Cosmopolitan, FHM, Grazia, Verve and Filmfare among others.

Work

His Journey began with working under his father in 2004. Along with working with his father, Rohan has worked with various photographers in different fields including Indrani-Pal Chaudhary in New York City. He is also a student of the New York Film Academy. His first editorial in May 2009 with L'Officiel India. Rohan has become a permanent fixture in the photography world today. His first celebrity cover, the Filmfare Magazine's June 2010 issue (shot when he was 25 years old) with Ranbir Kapoor was a huge coincidence considering Rohan's father, Rakesh Shrestha, had started his career way back in the 70s with Ranbir's mother Neetu Singh.

Being one of the younger photographers in the industry today, his sense of creativity and his style of shooting with a difference, is what makes him popular today.

With barely 4 years since going solo, Rohan has the distinct advantage of shooting a large number of celebrities including Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Imran Khan, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin, Sonakshi Sinha, Dia Mirza, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, Yuvraj Singh and many others.

Over the years, Rohan has shot with some of the leading magazines in the country today. These include editorials and cover stories for Vogue, GQ, L'Officiel, Harpers Bazaar, Verve, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Marie Claire, Filmfare, FHM, Mans World, Femina, People, Hello!, Architectural Digest and CondeNast Traveller.

Advertising

Rohan's photography also extends to advertising assignments for Hermès, Satya Paul, Casio, Perfetti, JBL, Pepsi Co, Panasonic, Jade, Anita Dongre, Global Desi, Myntra, Chamomile, Durian, Pepe Jeans, Incredible India, Gitanjali, D'damas, UB Group and Loreal.

Fine Art

Among his many accolades, is his foray into travel photography. His portrayal of Rajasthan was purchased by the Leela Udaipur and thereafter his depiction of Delhi was commissioned by the Leela Kempinski Chanakyapuri (New Delhi). Both were displayed as part of the respective hotels in-room art decor. He work in Chennai has also been displayed in the Leela Palace Chennai. He is also an Underwater photographer shooting fashion as well as documenting Marine life in the oceans.
